Huge jump reported in a virus incident
Wood River — According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, rising coronavirus test positive rates could result in national mandatory mitigation measures in the eastern metropolitan area.
On Friday, IDPH announced 2,264 new COVID-19 cases and 24 deaths. This is the largest number of cases per day since May 24th.
Green County was also announced as one of 14 “warning level” counties.
According to IDPH, the number of cases in Madison County increased on Friday, 114 days, from 2,855 to 2,969.
A total of six new deaths were also reported in Madison County, including the total previously included in the Madison County Department of Health data.
The new data includes 55 new cases in the Granite City / Pontoon Beach area and the first report of cases in the Dorsey and Carrollton areas.
This was after Thursday’s Madison County Department of Health published both records and counts and deaths.
Based on a 7-day moving average, if an 8% positive rate occurs in the area for three consecutive days, the state will take measures such as bar and restaurant seat restrictions and closures, and public rally restrictions. start. See https://coronavirus.illinois.gov/s/restore-illinois-mitigation-plan for more information.
The state’s Metro East region includes Bond, Clinton, Madison, Monroe, Randolph, St. Clair, and Washington, and is based on IDPH’s Emergency Services region.
On Thursday, the Madison County Department of Health posted a record number of both new cases and deaths. The data wasn’t included in Friday’s The Telegraph article because it wasn’t posted until late Thursday night.
Amy Yeager, Health Promotion Manager at the Madison County Department of Health, says data posting will occur later in the day due to the large amount of data and the increased workload due to the increased number of tests.
Data on Thursday showed a total of 80 new cases with 2,791 new cases and a total of 82 new deaths with 82 cases. Deaths reported on Thursday included women in their 60s, 80s, and 90s and men in their 90s.
The county also reported a total of 45,875 tests, including the 820 received on Thursday. The Thursday positive rate-the percentage of positive test results-was 9.76%. The 3-day average was 8.43%, the 7-day average was 9.11%, and the 10-day average was 8.64%.
“Interest rates are rising,” Jager said. “As we open up, it is still important for people to follow public health guidance as we open up.”
There has been much debate about the fact that most of the new cases are young people who are unlikely to have serious COVID-related health problems. However, one of the concerns is that these young people may create larger pools, affecting those who are likely to have serious health problems.
Mr Jager pointed out that in the case of so-called collective housing, such as nursing homes, a rise is beginning to be seen.
“They did an amazing job with it,” she said. “But some people have to talk to people who don’t live in that environment,” she said.
The scope is currently from families with limited access to childbearing people and off-site workers when a resident of a nursing home goes to a medical appointment or receives emergency care.
“It’s even more important that everyone in the community follows the guidelines,” she added. “We need people to wear masks. We need people to socialize. Now you see that ripple effect.”
There were 2,264 new cases and 24 deaths were reported on Friday throughout the state.
There are currently 202,691 cases and 7,721 deaths across the state, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health website. 49,541 tests have been completed in the last 24 hours, for a total of 3,285,348 tests across the state. The preliminary 7-day state-wide positive rate of cases as a percentage of all tests from August 8 to 14 is 4.1%.
As of Thursday night, 1,612 people in Illinois were reported hospitalized at COVID-19. Of these, 345 were in the intensive care unit and 126 had a ventilator.
The Madison County Department of Health Thursday’s figures include 1,546 active cases. A total of 45,875 tests were completed in the county, including 820 reported on Thursday.
The positive rate on Thursday was 9.76 percent. The 3-day rate was 8.43%, the 7-day rate was 9.11%, and the 10-day rate was 8.64%.
