Reliable whenever the COVID-19 vaccine becomes available
I like shooting. It’s a vaccine. Over the past few years, I have been vaccinated against hepatitis A and B, meningitis, typhoid fever, measles, mumps, rubella (makeup shots of people I missed as a child), influenza, yellow fever, and tetanus. I received it. I don’t want to get a fatal illness for souvenirs when traveling abroad. I don’t want to tell that either.
These vaccinations not only protect me and those around me from illness, but also help create local-level immunity that protects medically vulnerable people from infection. Vaccines are the most effective and safe way we need to fight deadly illnesses.
So I’m lined up at the pharmacy when the COVID-19 approved vaccine becomes available. Unfortunately, only 46% of Colorado share my enthusiasm. According to a recent Colorado Health Foundation poll, 46% of those surveyed said they were “very likely” to be vaccinated against COVID-19. An additional 19% said they were “somewhat likely.”
Some Americans are skeptical about the release of the COVID-19 vaccine because they believe that a rapid and politicalized approval process can compromise its safety. Other Americans have lost confidence in government agencies due to reporting discrepancies and arbitrary and costly pandemic obligations. The use of drones, narklines, and tracking apps by some authorities has deepened suspicion and created a fertile foundation for conspiracy theory.
Skepticism is understandable, but Americans don’t have to put their faith in an individual who is a pandemic face. They can trust the incentives facing the American medical research community. In addition to wanting to save lives, which is one of the main reasons people go to medicine, the research community and the pharmaceutical industry have a reputation and stocks. No one wants to be the next Terranos, the next Elizabeth Holmes. Second, the vaccine must complete the animal and human trials required by the FDA for safety and efficacy. As long as the data is transparent and available for analysis, critics and competitors can challenge it. There is no perfect human effort, but good incentives help keep people honest.
You can trust the process. we must. COVID-19 vaccination is the only way to end a pandemic, save lives and restore normality. Americans should volunteer with the same enthusiasm as polio vaccines.

In other words, without a vaccine, there is no way to end a pandemic without an unacceptable loss of life.
I’m relatively young and healthy and may survive COVID-19 like some friends, but I’m praying for a vaccine. This vaccine is available not only to avoid the risk of complications of COVID-19, but also for those who cannot take such a risk.
