Covid-19: France breaks daily record with 16,972 new cases-World News
France broke the national daily record for new Covid-19 cases on Saturday after the National Public Health Service recorded 16,972 positive tests in the last 24 hours.
According to the agency’s daily statistics update, the latest rise is a significant jump from the 12,148 new positive tests reported on Friday. The total for Covid-19 in France is currently 606,625.
Officials said the country’s Covid-19 death toll had increased to 32,198, with 49 deaths in the last 24 hours due to complications from the infection.
A previous record of 16,096 new cases per day was set on September 24th.
Some French cities, including Marseille and Lyon, have introduced stricter social distance measures to curb the second wave of Covid-19.
On Thursday, French Health Minister Olivier Véran warned that additional measures, such as the closure of the bar, could be imposed in Paris as well.
