Montana goes to court to enforce Maskman Date | Northwest

Kalispell, Mon. — State and county health officials have begun cracking down on projects that have not implemented Governor Steve Bullock’s Maskmandate, which came into force in July to reduce the COVID-19 epidemic.

The Montana Department of Public Health and Welfare sought court approval in Flathead County and forced four companies to comply with their obligations, Flathead Beacon reported Friday.

The state is calling for temporary restraint orders against Kalispell’s Sykes Diner and Mercantile, Whitefish’s Remington Bar and Casino, Big Fork’s Your Lucky Turn Tavern, and Ferndale Market.

The Governor’s mission requires that facial coverings be worn in all publicly available indoor spaces in counties with four or more current cases of COVID-19. Companies also require that “reasonable steps” be taken to ensure that customers, employees and others comply with their obligations.

Brock announced planned legal action against Flathead County’s business on Thursday, with county commissioners and the Flathead County Health Commission “to provide public assistance to residents who ignore the Governor’s instructions. “By” said it responded to the recent surge in incidents.

The state is seeking temporary injunctions and restraints to prevent businesses from violating emergency orders.

Doug White, whose family has owned Your Lucky Turn for over 30 years, has allowed some customers to enter without a mask or uncover their faces at the casino. He posted a sign with state directives stating that he was providing customers with masks and hand sanitizers.

“What should I do?” White asked. “A person who costs money?”

“We try to adhere to everything possible, but I always have a supplier here without wearing a mask. What am I going to say? A man wearing a mask Can’t you accept the beer delivery because you don’t? “White asked.

The owner of the Ferndale Market was outside the town and couldn’t comment on Friday, said the person who answered the phone there. Pam Haase, manager of Sykes Diner, said he had just filed a complaint and would like to read it through before commenting. The person who answered the phone in Remington declined to comment.

Two businesses listed on Friday’s filing, Sykes Diner and Ferndale Market, said they refused to take action on the business because a particular outbreak was not associated with a location. I was introduced to a county lawyer.

Montana reported 932 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday and another 863 cases on Friday, bringing the total number of cases since the pandemic began to slightly exceed 26,500. At least 282 people have died and 351 have been hospitalized, according to state officials.

It is believed that the number of cases is much higher, as it is possible to get COVID-19 without symptoms and not all have been tested.

Other counties are taking action against companies that do not carry out mask mandates.

Missoula County has ordered some companies to comply with or shut down COIVD-19 safety precautions, and others have closed, Missoula reported.

Since August, Cascade County has issued a “correction order” letter to the owners of the three businesses for failing to comply with Mask’s obligations and contacted other companies with an educational call. If Cascade County’s business does not comply, the County Health Department has stated that the case will be referred to a county attorney, the Great Falls Tribune reported.

Cascade County Health Officer Trisha Gardiner said Tuesday that the Ministry of Health had contacted more than 200 companies regarding violations of the COVID-19 Directive, including masks, signs and building capacity restrictions.

The state is not tracking the county’s enforcement efforts, said John Eberto, a health bureau spokesman.

The Friday block provided a link to the consumer complaint form. This form allows the general public to inform health authorities about businesses and events that violate the COVID-19 Directive. This form is also used to report food poisoning and other public health and safety issues.

For most people, the coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms such as fever and cough. For some people, especially the elderly and those with existing health problems, it can cause more serious illnesses such as pneumonia and death.
