Mobile, Alabama (WALA)-With an increasing number of cases of COVID-19, a nasty tendency raises concerns just a week before Thanksgiving holidays.
Top doctors at the Alabama Hospital Association say the virus epidemic is “out of control” in the state, blaming mask fatigue and large gatherings.
“Our ability to contain the virus has been lost,” said Dr. Don Williamson, president of the Alabama Hospital Association.

“We are approaching the numbers we saw in July,” said Dr. Jeanne Marazzo of UAB.
Two Alabama doctors share concerns as the holiday season could be the worst wave ever.
“We have everything we need to do a disaster between now and the end of December,” said Dr. Williamson.
“We simply continue to experience the boundaries of uncontrollable community infections,” said Dr. Marazzo.
Many of Alabama’s new cases come from the northern part of the state, but mobile cases are skyrocketing and hospitalizations are on the rise.
“A low percentage of people in the hospital need an ICU bed, and I think it’s a function of some functions. Remdesivir makes a difference, steroid use is a respiratory system. It alleviates the problem, “said Dr. Williamson.
As the number of cases continues to grow, hospitals are preparing more patients, and this wave can be worse than in the summer.
“When you talk to the hospital, they will tell you that their biggest concern is not the bed,” Dr. Williamson said. “Their primary concern is nurses and other healthcare providers.”
The majority of healthy people infected with COVID will survive. According to doctors, the virus is the most dangerous for the elderly and people in basic health.
