Since the outbreak in China last December, the new coronavirus has killed at least 1,422,951 people.
At least 60,427,590 cases of coronavirus have been registered. Of these, at least 38,532,900 are currently considered to be recovering.
Aggregations using data collected by AFP from national authorities and information from the World Health Organization (WHO) probably reflect only a small fraction of the actual number of infections.
Many countries test only symptomatological or most severe cases.
On Wednesday, 12,351 new deaths and 635,138 new cases were recorded worldwide. According to the latest report, the number of new deaths was 2,439 in the United States, followed by 858 in Mexico and 722 in Italy.
The United States is the most affected country, with 262,283 deaths from 12,778,254 cases. At least 4,835,956 people have been declared recovered.
Brazil was the second most affected country after the United States with 6,166,606 to 170,769, India with 9,266,705 to 135,223, Mexico with 1,070,487 to 103,597, and the United Kingdom with 1,557,007 to 56,533.
Belgium has the highest number of deaths compared to its population, with 138 deaths per 100,000 population, followed by Peru with 108, Spain with 94 and Italy with 86.
China (excluding Hong Kong and Macau) has so far declared 86,490 proceedings, including 4,634 deaths and 81,550 recovery.
In Latin America and the Caribbean as a whole, 12,673,887 to 440,211 deaths, in Europe 17,166,670 to 390,074, and in the United States and Canada 13,123,532 to 273,972.
Asia reported deaths from 12,110,417 to 190,919, the Middle East from 3,214,016 to 76,191, Africa from 2,108,855 to 50,643, and Oceania from 30,221 to 941.
Numbers updated in the last 24 hours may not exactly match the previous day’s aggregates as a result of corrections by national authorities or delays in the release of data.
