Hertfordshire Covid: Hertford Hospital plans to roll out a new coronavirus vaccine next week
The Hertfordshire hospital will be the first in the UK to receive the new Covid-19 vaccine.
Health Minister Matt Hancock confirmed that it could be rolled out early next week.
50 hospitals selected to receive jabs across the UK Pfizer and BioNTech, Approved for clinical use by regulators.
That may mean that the first people will be vaccinated as early as Monday, Report the mirror.
The NHS Trusts from East Hertfordshire Hospital, North Hertfordshire Hospital, and West Hertfordshire Hospital are on the list and will be vaccinated in the coming days.
East and North Hertfordshire Hospitals include Stevenage’s Lister Hospital, Hertfordshire, Hertford County Hospital, and New QEll Hospital in Welwyn Garden City.
West Hertfordshire Hospital includes Watford General Hospital, St Albans City Hospital and Hemel Hempstead Hospital.
It has not been confirmed whether each hospital under the two trusts will provide the vaccine.
Health Minister Matt Hancock added that there would be “three delivery methods” for the vaccine.
He states: “There are already 50 hospitals nationwide, waiting for vaccination as soon as they are approved.
“Also, vaccination centers will be big centers where people can go to get vaccinated. They are currently in place.
“There is also a community development that includes GPs and pharmacists.

“Of course, the -70C storage conditions for this vaccine will allow these facilities to support this deployment wherever they are located.
“But if the AstraZeneca vaccine is approved, they will exist because they do not have these refrigeration requirements and are easy to deploy in operation.”
The United Kingdom is the first country in the world to deploy clinically licensed vaccines.
