97-year-old Coral Springs woman returns home after defeating coronavirus
Coral Spring, Florida. – A 97 year old woman returned home after recovering from COVID-19.
Jean Bocard thought she had experienced it all.
“I had days when I was very sleepy and very tired, but otherwise I was a normal self,” she said.
But about two weeks ago, when she was found on the floor of a Coral Springs home, her beloved grandmother changed things.
Her caretaker called 9-1-1 and then her son, Vincent.
“When I pulled home and the rescue was taking her out of the front door, I said,” I think this is, I think mom is out of her, “she said.
Only after Jean was admitted to Broward Health Coral Springs was the test for COVID-19 tested and the results returned to positive.
“When they told me I had the virus, I would go,” what virus? “She said.
Jean had pneumonia, underlying illnesses, heart disease, and diabetes, and was unlikely to survive for anyone of his age.
“It was very difficult during that time because I wasn’t allowed to see her at the hospital,” Vincent said.
But nine days later, Jean repelled the virus and symptoms. She was released from the hospital a few days before she received a clean medical certificate from her doctor.
“They were surprised at my age that I had something like this and was able to react very well,” Jean said.
As a proven survivor, the 97-year-old is giving this wise advice to anyone facing a similar storm.
“Don’t give in, fight it,” she said. “Do what you have to do.”
