Utah health officials are alerting despite a reduction in new virus cases
Salt Lake City — Utah’s COVID-19 cases continue to decline.
Utah Health Department Monday Reported 514 new cases of virus.. This is the lowest daily number of cases since September.
“Whenever there are less than 1,000 cases, it’s amazing, and it’s been a long time since I saw it,” said Jenny Johnson of UDOH. “If we can keep it strong for a few more months, we’ll be right there at the end of this tunnel.”
The state’s 7-day moving average of positive cases also plummeted.
It reached a peak of 3,258 in early January. Currently it is 1,133.
Unfortunately, the number of people taking the test is declining.
During the week of February 1, approximately 123,000 Utahns were tested for the virus.
Last week, about 138,000 people were tested.
“If the number of people taking the test is really small, it’s time for us to start worrying too,” Johnson said. “We are very likely to have disappeared from people who are still COVID positive and spreading the disease.”

The Ministry of Health warns that the low number of uppercase and lowercase letters is not a reason to withdraw safety measures such as wearing masks and social distance.
“It will buy us time to vaccinate the community and more people in our population,” Johnson said. “It’s enough to get you back to normal.”
A highly infectious variant of COVID known to be in Utah, UDOH urges people to stay vigilant.
“If they grab a large part of our population, they will soon spread,” Johnson said. “We must give ourselves the opportunity to end this pandemic with tools that are known to return to normal and work.”
