88 new cases of COVID-19 reported on Vancouver Island
There are over 80 new cases of COVID-19 on Vancouver Island.
British Columbia health officials revealed on Monday that 1,478 new cases of COVID-19, including 88 from Island Health, were confirmed over the weekend.
Authorities also announced that eight people in British Columbia also died from the virus over the weekend.
The total number of cases recorded in BC is now 80,672, with deaths rising to 1,363.
Of the new cases, 327 were recorded in Vancouver Coastal Health, 857 in Fraser Health, 88 in Island Health, 92 in Interior Health and 114 in Northern Health.
Currently, there are 4,464 active cases in the state, 236 are hospitalized, 65 of whom are in the intensive care unit and may be exposed to specific cases, so 8,210 are active. Under public health surveillance.

Island health
According to the latest information posted on BCCDCThere are 324 active cases of COVID-19 on Vancouver Island on the dashboard.
Currently 17 people are hospitalized for COVID-19 on the island, 3 of whom are receiving critical care.
A total of 732 deadly virus tests have been conducted in the region over the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, Island Health reported 303 active cases on Vancouver Island in the latest update. Of these active cases, 44 are on the South Island, 188 are on the Central Island, and 71 are on the North Island.
Island Health data often lags behind BCCDC data due to “differences in reporting timing between laboratory and public health data sources.”
Since the onset of the pandemic, the island health area has recorded 2,403 cases of the virus, 26 deaths and 2,051 recovery.
