Letter: Encourage support for the Alzheimer’s Disease Caregiver Support Act | Freedom
Today, more than 11 million Americans provide unpaid care to people with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. As a caregiver for a mother who died of Alzheimer’s disease in 2013, she has a first-hand understanding of the impact of the disease on her family. My mother has lived with Alzheimer’s disease for over 7 years and I was her main caregiver. Indeed, every day can be emotionally, physically and financially difficult. Caregivers are costly, so I’m happy to see the bipartisan Alzheimer’s Disease Caregiver Support Act (S.56 / HR 1474) introduced in Congress. This practice will provide the dementia caregivers in our country with the very necessary relief.
Join me and the Alzheimer’s Disease Association and ask US Congressman Dean Phillips to co-sponsor the Alzheimer’s Disease Caregiver Assistance Act. Phillips is an advocate of the cause of Alzheimer’s disease and is grateful to have participated in the bipartisan Parliamentary Task Force on Alzheimer’s Disease. The Task Force has been working to raise research and public awareness by bringing Alzheimer’s disease and all dementia to the forefront of parliamentary agenda.
