Four people remain in Oregon under post-travel surveillance due to potential exposure to Ebola, officials said.
Four people in Oregon have been monitored for the Ebola virus after traveling to West African countries where the disease is occurring, public health officials said Thursday.
The Oregon Department of Health has contacted all individuals who have traveled to Guinea and the Democratic Republic of the Congo and considers them “under surveillance,” officials said in a statement.
All arrived in Oregon earlier this month from the affected countries, adding that the risk to others in the state is low, officials said.
“We want to ensure that these individuals monitor their health, stay in touch with public health authorities, and in that regard receive the support they need to safely receive medical service assistance. “, Prepared and responded, stated in a statement.
Leman emphasized that, unlike the coronavirus, asymptomatic individuals cannot be infected with the Ebola virus and no one being monitored shows signs of illness.

As of Wednesday, Guinea reported 18 cases of Ebola and 9 deaths. Outbreaks are concentrated in the southern part of the country. In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, 12 cases and 6 deaths were seen in the eastern part near the border with Uganda.
Outbreaks were confined to small areas of both countries and did not affect large densely populated areas.
Nevertheless, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has issued warnings to both countries, telling people to avoid unnecessary trips.
Public health officials said they were in contact with a community-based organization in Oregon to provide assistance to those being monitored in Oregon.
