2 COVID deaths in Cattaraugus County, 21 new cases | News
Olean — Two Cattaraugus County residents died of COVID-19 on Tuesday, Cattaraugus County Health Department officials said.
A 72-year-old woman and a 74-year-old man died of respiratory failure due to complications of COVID-19.
Their deaths were 95th and 96th by COVID in the county over the last 12 months.
The county reported 21 new cases of COVID-19, 11 women and 10 men, on Tuesday. Currently, there are 2,772 women and 2,427 men diagnosed with the virus.
This brings the number of residents in the county who tested positive for coronavirus in the last 13 months to 5,199. Of that number, 4,886 have recovered.
Currently, there are 20 residents of the county who are hospitalized with COVID-19.
Ten of the new cases are from the northeastern corner of the county, for a total of 947 cases.
There were nine new cases in the southeast, for a total of 2,826. There are a total of 628 new cases in the northwest, and 798 new cases have not been reported in the southwest.
The health department is currently tracking 217 active cases, 448 quarantined contacts, and 3 traveler quarantined contacts.
According to Watkins, Tuesday’s daily positive rate was 6.7%, the 7-day moving average was 4.3%, and the 14-day average was 4%.
According to Watkins, 18,919 county residents have completed the vaccine series and 24,787 people, or 32.3% of the population, have been vaccinated at least once.
