Incidence continues to decline as active COVID-19 cases and 100 new cases have been reported
Middlesex Center, Ontario. –Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) reported 100 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, but overall active cases decreased again.
There are currently a total of 9,993 cases occurring in the region, with 8,830 resolved and 967 active cases remaining. This is a decrease from more than 1,000 active cases in recent weeks.
The number of cases on Monday has increased slightly since the weekend when 90 cases were reported on Sunday and 82 cases were reported on Saturday.
No new deaths were reported on Monday, with a total of 196, but the number of mutations increased to 1,561 and an additional 242 were mutation-positive.
As of Sunday, the 7-day incidence per 100,000 people dropped to 63.2. In Middlesex-London, compared to 81.3 in Ontario as a whole. At the peak of the third wave earlier this month, the incidence in the region was 182.1.
As of Monday, the London Health Sciences Center (LHSC) has 90 COVID-19-positive inpatients and 37 in the intensive care unit. Eight staff are also COVID-19 positive.
For the first time in a few weeks, there have been no active outbreaks in long-term care facilities or retirement homes. However, outbreaks continue in five regional schools, two daycare centers, and seven Western University residences.
