State Health Authorities Include New Statistics in Dashboard – WKVI Information Center

Dr. Christina Box, Indiana Health Commissioner, announced last week that new statistics are available on the state’s coronavirus dashboard.
“When we start vaccinations between the ages of 12 and 15, we want to include information about the number of cases of pediatric multisystem inflammatory syndrome (MIS-C),” said Dr. Box. “This is a condition in which various parts of the body can become inflamed, including the heart, lungs, kidneys, brain, and other organs. MIS-C is this hyperimmunity that usually occurs after exposure to COVID-19. It’s really related to inflammation. “
As of Wednesday, May 12, Dr. Box said there were 89 cases of MIS-C residents under the age of 20 in Indiana.
