Scientists believe that they may have found a way to prevent cat allergies simply by injecting them into a cat friend.
An American company, Indoor Biotechnologies, uses gene-editing tools to eliminate protein production in cats and cause some allergic reactions.
This protein, called Fel d 1, is found in the salivary glands and skin of cats and is diffused during self-care and peeling.
Indoor Biotechnologies says it has successfully deleted the gene that stimulates Fel d 1 production in cells tested from 50 cats.

If further trials are successful, the goal is to find ways to develop treatments for drugs that can be administered to cats via injections, tablets, or creams.
The company, which specializes in allergy remedies, says it will be available to veterinarians within a couple of years.
Martin Chapman, CEO of Indoor Biotechnology, said it sounds “like science fiction,” but it could actually be a viable solution.
“We want people to take their cats to a vet for injections so they can reduce or eliminate Fel d 1 completely,” he told the Times.
However, scientists are still unsure what it is used for, so it’s still unclear if removing proteins would be bad for your cat’s health.
Some believe it is a form of communication for mating, while others believe it can protect cat skin from viral and bacterial infections.

Indoor biotechnology is trying to find out whether protein deletion can damage cats by trying to delete the gene that makes the protein in the fertilized egg. Then embed it in a female cat to see if the kitten with the mutated gene is causing medical problems.
If the solution is proven to work before the cat is less likely to develop an allergic reaction, the company will likely need only one or two injections, the company said.
