“Sure, we have some data, but not as much as it’s usually available,” Finn said. “This is an inaccurate science. Certainty is lower than usual.”
Nonetheless, Dr. Finn and other healthcare professionals say next year’s flu vaccine will help prevent illness.
“We still have the flu vaccine for next year, so we encourage people to get the vaccine,” he said.
It takes at least 6 months to produce a large vaccine. Some manufacturers are already working on the information they need to prepare for the next flu season.
