UK plans to ban sales of new petrol motorcycles from 2040

The UK government is set to announce plans to ban the sale of new petrol motorcycles, including scooters and higher-powered variants, from 2040 as part of efforts to achieve net-zero emissions.

According to the Telegraph, this move to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from transport will affect all vehicles classified as L3 and above.

Restrictions on early sales will also come into effect, including a ban on new gasoline motorcycles from 2030.

The decision comes amid a growing market for electric motorcycles, which accounted for around half of UK motorcycle registrations last year.
