The Last Of Us Season 2 Casts Jeffrey Wright as Isaac

Another member of The Last of Us voice cast is joining the HBO adaptation.

Jeffrey Wright was cast in Season 2 as Isaac, the quiet and powerful leader of a large militia, known in the video game as the Washington Liberation Front, who sought freedom but instead became mired in a endless war against a surprisingly ingenious enemy.

The actor lent his voice to the same character in the game The Last of Us Part II.

Based on the Naughty Dog video game, The Last of Us takes place 20 years after the destruction of modern civilization. Joel, played by Pedro Pascal, a hardened survivor, is hired to get Ellie (Bella Ramsey), a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What begins as a small job soon becomes a brutal and harrowing journey as they both must cross the United States and depend on each other to survive.

Pascal and Ramsey reprise their roles in season 2. In addition to Wright, they are joined by Gabriel Luna, Kaitlyn Dever, Young Manzino, Isabela Merced and Catherine O'Hara.

Wright isn't the first cast member from The Last Of Us to join the live-action series. Several voice actors were given supporting roles in season 1, including Troy Baker, who voiced Joel, and Ashley Johnson, who voiced Ellie. Wright is the second actor to reprise his own voice role, after Merle Dandridge did the same for his character Marlene in season 1.

Season 2 is currently in production. It is expected to debut on HBO sometime in 2025. It comes from Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann.
