The Met Office has issued a new thunderstorm warning for public holiday Sunday.

“We will have a mix of sunny skies on Sunday, but there will be scattered, heavy and thunderous rain,” said Dan Harris, deputy meteorologist at the Met Office.

It may not be visible everywhere, but where it does occur it is less likely to cause temporary problems such as flooded roads.

Scotland will be more cloudy due to rain, and Northern Ireland will also be cloudy, although similar conditions are likely to occur in England and Wales as heavy rain later develops.

Monday will be cool and breezy, with scattered showers expected across north-west England and south-west Scotland, and even gray clouds and thunderous downpours in eastern England.

Forecasters said Wales, Northern Ireland and south-west England could see drier weather. The Met Office said it will continue to review the weather warning situation and advised Britons to keep up to date with the forecast if they have plans this weekend.

Furthermore, the wet start to summer is expected to continue with rain and dark clouds continuing into Friday.
