Al-Safa US LLC Recalls Ready-to-Eat Frozen Chicken Products Due to Possible Listeria Contamination

WASHINGTON, July 5, 2024 Al-Safa US LLC, the importer of record located in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, is recalling approximately 2,010 pounds of imported ready-to-eat frozen chicken products that may be adulterated with Listeria monocytogenes, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.

The ready-to-eat frozen chicken products were manufactured on June 5, 2024 in Canada and imported into the United States on June 13, 2024 and June 21, 2024. The following products are being recalled [view labels]:

12.1 oz carton pack containing Al Safa Halal Charcoal Grilled Chicken Seekh Kebab, Minced, Chicken Patty Kebab with NOV 30 25 and 0605404 numbers printed on a sticker on the outside of the pack. 14.11 oz carton pack containing Al Safa Halal Fully Cooked Chicken Chapli Kebab, Seasoned Chicken Patty with NOV 30 25 and 0605416 numbers printed on a sticker on the outside of the pack.

The recalled products bear the establishment number 866 inside the Canadian inspection mark. These items were shipped to retail locations across the country.

The problem was discovered after FSIS conducted routine testing on the product and the results indicated the product may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

No cases of adverse effects related to the consumption of these products have been reported. Anyone concerned by a disease should contact a health professional.

Consumption of food contaminated with L. monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, a serious infection that mainly affects the elderly, people with weakened immune systems, pregnant women and their newborns. More rarely, people outside these risk groups are affected.

Listeriosis can cause fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, and seizures, sometimes preceded by diarrhea or other gastrointestinal symptoms. An invasive infection spreads beyond the digestive tract. In pregnant women, the infection can cause miscarriage, stillbirth, premature delivery, or life-threatening infection of the newborn. In addition, serious and sometimes fatal infections can occur in older adults and people with weakened immune systems. Listeriosis is treated with antibiotics. People in high-risk groups who develop flu-like symptoms within two months of eating contaminated food should seek medical attention and inform the health care professional about eating contaminated food.

FSIS is concerned that some products may be in consumers' freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown out or returned to the place of purchase.

FSIS regularly conducts recall effectiveness checks to ensure that recalling companies notify their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to ensure that the product is no longer available to consumers. When available, retail distribution lists will be posted on the FSIS website at www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls.

Media and consumers with questions regarding the recall may contact Marwan Mahaboob Basha, Al-Safa US LLC, at 800-268-8174.

Consumers with food safety questions can call USDA’s toll-free Meat and Poultry Hotline at 888-MPHotline (888-674-6854) or email a question to [email protected]. Consumers who need to report a problem with a meat, poultry, or egg product can access the electronic consumer complaint monitoring system online 24 hours a day at https://foodcomplaint.fsis.usda.gov/eCCF/.

View photos The advantages of comparing online car insurance quotes are the following: Online quotes can be obtained from anywhere and at any time. Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily. Although drivers are recommended to not choose a policy just based on its price, drivers can easily sort quotes by insurance price. Using brokerage websites will allow drivers to get quotes from multiple insurers, thus making the comparison faster and easier.
