British Married At First Sight star arrested on sexual assault charges

After the Panorama episode aired, the Metropolitan Police encouraged “anyone who believes they have been a victim of sexual assault” to contact them after participating in Married at First Sight UK.

“This relates to an ongoing investigation led by the Met Police,” the Metropolitan Police said in a new statement to BBC News.

“He has since been bailed and investigations are ongoing.”

Married at First Sight UK, known as MAFS, is billed as a “bold social experiment” and sees single people agree to “marry” complete strangers after meeting for the first time at a mock wedding.

The British version, which ran for 10 seasons, is one of Channel 4’s biggest shows, often drawing viewers in excess of 3 million.

Last May, Channel 4 removed all episodes of the show from its streaming service just hours before the Panorama investigation was due to be transmitted.

No decision has yet been made on whether to air the latest series of the show, which has already been filmed.

The broadcaster said its review of MAFS UK is expected to be completed later this summer. However, we plan to publish only a “summary of findings” and not the full report.

Lawyers for CPL, the independent production company that produces the British version of the show, previously said its benefits system was “best in class” and industry leading.
