Quebec COVID-19: What You Need to Know on Tuesday
- Quebec reported 154 new cases of COVID-19 (501 new cases since the last update) on Monday with no new deaths.
- Since the pandemic began, there have been 377,798 confirmed cases and 11,241 deaths.
- The hospital has 61 people (up one from the last update), 17 of whom are in the intensive care unit (no change).
- In the last 24 hours, 38,247 vaccines have been given, and Quebec has received a total of 11,330,968 vaccines.
- 84% of the state’s eligible population (aged 12+) is vaccinated once and 68% are vaccinated twice.
COVID-19 data is no longer updated by the Quebec Department of Health on weekends or public holidays.
The state states that it is taking steps to avoid overdose of unused COVID-19 vaccine.
The Ministry of Health says it has stopped new doses of AstraZeneca and Modana vaccines.
To date, more than 106,000 AstraZeneca and more than 1.8 million Moderna have been returned to the federal government.
As of Monday, 84% of eligible Quebecs (aged 12+) have been vaccinated once and 68% have been fully vaccinated.
Highest positive rate since May
The state had the highest COVID-19 positive rate since Sunday, May last year, rising to 1.4%.
The number of cases in Quebec remains low compared to the peak of the third wave, but Dr. Donald Vinh, an infectious disease specialist at McGill University Health Center, said current trends are a concern as they show that “community infections are still ongoing.”
Vin said there are concerns in the future as school and college classes will resume in late August and September.
