As world leaders gather for the COP26 climate conference in Glasgow, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said measures are needed. Speaking to the BBC, Mr Johnson said leaders needed to move “from intention to action” to slow global warming. He said the summit was a “critical” moment for him, and said the ambitious outcome was still “in balance”. For the first time, Mr. Johnson also confirmed that he did not want to move forward with a controversial coal mine proposed in Cumbria. “I am not in favor of more coal,” the prime minister said. “But it’s not a decision for me, it’s a decision of the planning authorities.” They have criticized the government for failing to stop the mining project.
