Aso Healthful Forest is a health facility located in Minamaso, Kumamoto Prefecture, where guests can exercise, enjoy hot springs and interact with animals in mega buildings equivalent to 21 Tokyo Domes. The residential residence area of ​​Aso Farm Village is lined with 450 big and small domes.

The area was severely damaged by seismic shocks in the upper part of the 6S during the Kumamoto earthquakes in April 2016. Although the houses and surrounding roads were severely damaged, the dome homes remained intact.

Dome structures are made of expanded polystyrene, which is styrofoam processed for use as building materials. It is light in weight, with excellent durability and special flexibility to absorb earthquake shocks. Aso Healthful Forest accepted up to 650 earthquake victims at one time after the 2016 earthquakes, providing safe housing so victims can move to their official temporary housing. Guests were relieved to protect the privacy of their families, unlike the open spaces of the evacuation shelters.
