More bodies were recovered from the Indonesian island of Sumatra after a strong earthquake hit the island on Friday, raising the death toll to 11 while another 400 were injured and thousands displaced.

The body of the latest victim was found on Sunday (February 27) from the rubble of houses destroyed by the 6.2-magnitude earthquake that rocked West Sumatra province on Friday morning, the Guardian reported, citing Indonesia’s National Disaster Mitigation Agency spokesman Abdul Mahari.

He said six people were killed in Basaman district and five others in neighboring West Basaman district.

Rescuers are still searching for four villagers believed to be buried under tons of mud that fell from the surrounding hills in Bukit Lintang village in Pasaman.

Nearly 400 people were injured in the quake, whose tremors were felt as far away as Malaysia and Singapore, and about 42 people are still receiving treatment, Mahari said, adding that more than 13,000 people have fled their homes to temporary shelters, and more than 1,400 homes. Buildings were damaged.
