Magnitude 3.6 earthquake tractor wakes up Darrington residents

OSU – A 3.6-magnitude earthquake and a series of smaller aftershocks hit the Osu region early Tuesday morning.

The small quake was felt in Arlington, Darrington, Everett, Granite Falls, Stevens Lake, Snohomish and Stanwood, as well as in Skagit County, according to reports from the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network.

People reported mild to mild shaking, according to the network. An earthquake of this magnitude was not expected to cause damage.

However, some locals wrote on social media that the earthquake woke them up and scared them.

The earthquake occurred shortly after 1 am, with its epicenter just north of Osu. The depth of the earthquake was about 2.2 miles.

Six smaller quakes — all under 2.0 degrees — were reported as of about 2 a.m., according to the Earthquake Network. There has been a previous set of earthquakes near the North Fork of the Stillaguamish River.
