Medivir and SciLife Lab Launch Joint Research on Potential SARS CoV-2 Inhibitors |

Stockholm, July 6, 2020 / PRNewswire /- Medivir ab (Nasdaq Stockholm: MVIR) today announced that it has participated in a collaborative study with SciLifeLab’s drug development platform (DDD) on potential inhibitors of SARS CoV-2. Through collaboration, DDD will have access to a compound library targeting Medidiv’s unique proprietary proteases.

The goal of the collaboration is to find potential inhibitors of key proteases of SARS CoV-2, an essential nonstructural protein M.^Professional, Required for virus replication. DDD mines a proprietary protease-targeted compound library developed by Medivir to identify putative inhibitors and evaluate active compounds as potential drug candidates. Data for up to 100 inhibitors are published online and are freely available for drug development to combat Covid-19.

Led by project Christian Sandberg,Associate professor Uppsala University, Co-Director of SciLifeLab’s DDD Platform and Principal Investigator of the project Nevermore COVID. This project is part of SciLifeLab’s national COVID-19 research program, funded by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation, for a total of 50 MSEK.
