Mohammed Yousuf resigns as elector

Former Pakistan batsman Mohammed Yousuf has resigned as Pakistan's cricket selector due to personal reasons. This announcement came after Pakistan named its team for the first Test against England. For the past two years, he has been the batsman of the senior national team and also the head coach of the Pakistan Under-19 team.
During his career, Yousuf represented Pakistan in 90 Test matches, 288 ODIs and three T20Is. He was appointed as a selector in March 2024. He was instrumental in the selection of the Pakistan team for the 2024 T20 World Cup.
The Pakistan team under the captaincy of Shan Masood played poorly in the 2024 T20 World Cup and exited the competition in the group stage. Later, the team lost the two-match home Test series against Bangladesh.
Following Pakistan's performance at the 2024 World T20 Cup, the selection committee was reformed and former players Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq were dismissed and Yousuf and Shafiq remained as national selectors.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has released an official statement and they have confirmed that Yousuf will be associated with the board for other responsibilities.
The PCB expresses its sincere gratitude to Mohammed Yousaf for his valuable contributions during his tenure as a member of the Selection Committee. Yousuf will continue to play a pivotal role at the PCB, sharing his extensive knowledge and experience as a batting coach at the high-performance centre, the PCB said in a statement.
Pakistan's next task is the Test series at home against England, which will take place in Multan from October 7.
