Israel says the Rafah crossing will not be reopened for aid | BBC News

Israel has said it has decided not to allow the opening of the Rafah border crossing between Gaza and Egypt unless Hamas makes a “greater effort” to return the dead hostages. Israel's defense organization, Cogat, said the date the crossing will reopen “for the movement of people only will be announced later.” He added that preparations were being made with Egypt. As part of the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire plan, Hamas had to return 20 hostages alive and the bodies of another 28 hostages. In return, Israel released 250 Palestinian prisoners and around 1,700 detainees.
