Jokowi’s lawyer denies pressuring Roy Suryo for restorative justice: we want to go to trial immediately
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV – The legal representative of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi), Rivai Kusumanegara, opened his voice in response to the arrest of Roy Suryo and Tifauzia Tyassuma or Doctor Tifa by Polda Metro Jaya on Friday (19/6/2026).
According to him, the arrest of the two suspects in the alleged defamation and slander case related to Jokowi’s degree was aimed at fulfilling the prosecutor’s request so that the trial would be more orderly and on time.

Rivai says until now his party has never pressured Roy Suryo cs to be ready to do so restorative justice. According to him, it is impossible specifically for Roy Suryo restorative justice.

He says restorative justice it is only granted to anyone who commits a crime for the first time, while Roy Suryo is not his first time.
“We want this to be tried immediately because we are also quite tired, it’s been over a year, there is no certainty. We also want this to be tested immediately and resolved,” he said.
Rivai revealed the losses suffered by the victims. According to him, Jokowi’s party has been insulted, slandered or intimidated almost daily for about a year.
Roy Suryo and Doctor Tifa were arrested by Polda Metro Jaya on Friday morning. Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto confirmed the arrest.
“Investigators from the Kamneg Ditreskrimum Polda Metro Jaya Subdirectorate arrested two suspects, with the initials RS (Roy Suryo) and TT (Tifauzia Tyassuma),” he said during a press conference at the Metro Jaya Police Headquarters, Friday afternoon.

Responding to the arrest, Roy Suryo’s lawyer Ahmad Khozinudin suspected that pressure from certain parties led to his client’s arrest.
“We think this is part of the pressure from the ‘Solo’ camp, which is why the police intervened today,” he said on the show. Evening compass KompasTV, Friday.
Roy Suryo’s lawyer then referred to the statement from Jokowi’s camp demanding that his client be immediately detained and arrested, and even made some threats if Roy Suryo cs was not arrested and detained.
According to him, in cases related to slander and defamation, there should be no need for detention, much less arrest.
