Whooping cough cases soar in Texas, quadrupling from last year

According to provisional data, the state has recorded over 3,500 pertussis cases till October 2025. This marks the second year in a row that Texas has seen a significant year-over-year increase in highly contagious bacterial infections, prompting DSHS to issue a health alert.
