Justin Speros named general manager of Virginia Football
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia athletics director Carla Williams and Fralin Family head football coach Tony Elliott announced Wednesday (June 3) that Justin Speros has been promoted to general manager of the football program. Speros previously served as chief of staff/assistant general manager.
Speros is entering his fifth season with the program and came to Charlottesville in 2022 as director of scouting on Elliott’s original staff. He was quickly elevated to director of recruiting in the fall of 2022. Over the next three seasons, his responsibilities included all elements of roster management, high school and transfer evaluations, oversight of all on-campus recruiting visits, the program’s connection to professional football and oversight of the player personnel department. As part of the program’s creation of a front office, he was named assistant general manager in July 2025 and had chief of staff added to his title ahead of the 2025 season.
“Justin has been involved in every aspect of our player evaluation and acquisition process since we have been here and knows our organization inside and out,” Elliott said. “He has been an integral part of our selection process from the beginning. I am excited to see him grow and develop in this new role and I am confident he can help us get where we need to go.”
In a corresponding move, Cory Martin will assume the title of assistant general manager and director of player personnel.

Prior to Virginia, Speros was director of scouting at South Florida for two years and held the same title at Western Carolina in 2019. While with the Catamounts, he also took over quality control, serving as the team’s video coordinator and professional football liaison.
A native of Great Falls, Virginia, Speros attended Langley High School and received his bachelor’s degree from Clemson in December 2017. At Clemson, he worked as an undergraduate assistant for Elliott. After graduating from Clemson, he remained with the Tigers’ football program for 13 months as a recruiting assistant, primarily assisting the offensive coaching staff with recruiting.
Speros also had stints in professional football, interning with the Cleveland Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars before attending college full-time.
