Aide says Jokowi was not invited to Pancasila birthday ceremony
The 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, was absent from the Pancasila Birth Commemorative Ceremony held at the Pancasila Building Field, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jakarta, Monday, June 1, 2026.
Jokowi’s absence was reportedly due to the fact that until the day of the event, no invitation had been received to attend the state ceremony.
Jokowi’s aide AKBP Syarif Muhammad Fitriansyah said his party had not received any invitation in the form of an official letter or other communication.
“Until this morning, we had not received an invitation for Mr. Joko Widodo to attend the ceremony to commemorate the birth of Pancasila,” Syarif was quoted as saying by RMOL.ID.
“There have been no invitations in the form of official letters or other communications,” he added.
For this reason, Jokowi did not participate in the series of ceremonies commemorating the birth of Pancasila this year.
“Therefore, you did not witness this activity,” Syarif said.
When the ceremony took place in Jakarta, Jokowi was known to be at his residence in the Sumber area, Banjarsari, Solo. Since the morning, he has been serving residents who came to keep in touch and take photos together during the long Vesak vacation.
It is known that President Prabowo was the inspector of the Pancasila anniversary ceremony. The reading of the Pancasila manuscript was carried out by Chairman of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR), Ahmad Muzani, and followed by the reading of the preamble to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia by Chairman of the Indonesian Regional Representative Council (DPD), Sultan Bachtiar Najamudin. The ceremony was attended by the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Gibran Rakabuming Raka and hundreds of guests, including former presidents and vice presidents of the Republic of Indonesia, heads of high state institutions, as well as Red and White Cabinet ministers and ministerial-level officials.
Also present were the Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Pancasila Ideological Development Agency and the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia Megawati Soekarnoputri, the 10th and 12th Vice Presidents of the Republic of Indonesia Jusuf Kalla and the 13th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Ma’ruf Amin.
