Trump news at a glance: US and Iran exchange new strikes | Trump administration

The United States and Iran have exchanged new missile and drone strikes, further undermining Washington’s efforts to reach a new ceasefire deal with Tehran.

U.S. forces on Tuesday fired a Hellfire missile to neutralize an oil tanker that was trying to break the U.S. blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, and later said they had repelled Iranian retaliatory attacks in the region and attacked sites on the Iranian island of Qeshm.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it attacked the headquarters of the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain with missiles and drones in response to the attack on Qeshm, a claim denied by the US military’s Central Command (Centcom).

The latest exchange of strikes underscores the lack of political progress in resolving the Middle East crisis, despite optimistic statements by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in his first appearance before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee since the United States and Israel launched their war against Iran.

Rubio on Tuesday reiterated his claims that a deal with Tehran was within reach and said the regime had agreed to negotiate aspects of its nuclear program that it had refused to discuss just a month ago.

US, Iran launch new strikes as ceasefire talks stall

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said: “The ceasefire between Iran and the United States is unequivocally a ceasefire on all fronts, including in Lebanon. Its violation on one front is a violation of the ceasefire on all fronts. The United States and Israel are responsible for the consequences of any violation.”

Trump signs executive order demanding early access to new versions of AI

Donald Trump signed an executive order to create a voluntary framework for the federal government to review powerful new AI models before they are launched. Tuesday’s highly anticipated order represents an attempt by the president to tighten his grip on the cybersecurity and national security threats posed by AI, opposing his previous deregulatory stance. But the voluntary nature of the framework shows that while Trump has taken a more cautious line on AI than when he took office last year, he is still reluctant to impose regulations on the tech industry.

View photos The advantages of comparing online car insurance quotes are the following: Online quotes can be obtained from anywhere and at any time. Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless.
