Coronavirus: Schools face confusion in Covid-19-positive cases

Students just went to secondary school last week at Ysgol Bro Edern.
Students and teachers are required to self-isolate in schools across Wales under the influence of Covid-19 positive cases.
Schools are located in Bridgend, Cardiff, Carefilly, Carmarthenshire, Gwynedd, Nice Port Talbot, Tofaen and Wrexham.
Thirty students in the 7th grade class at Ysgol Bro Edern, Cardiff, Llanedeyrn were asked to self-isolate for 14 days from confirmed cases.
Principal Iwan Pritchard said the school acted “as soon as possible” to contact affected people.
They were identified as close contacts for confirmed cases at school.
A class of 21 students from a primary school in Bargaud, Carefilly County, was told to self-isolate for two weeks After a member of staff gave a positive reaction.
At Bridgend, staff from Maesteg Comprehensive and Ysgol Bryn Castell tested positive and recommended isolation for 14 days.
In Tolfaen, the staff of the Woodlands Community Primary in Cumbran are self-isolated after a positive test.
The Neathport Talbot Council said positive tests were conducted on students and staff at Cwmnedd and Coedffranc elementary schools.
Both schools are self-isolated by eight students and three staff at Cwmnedd Elementary School and remain open at four at Coedffranc.
In Wrexham, a Saint Christopher special school for students ages 6-19 sent the students home after a positive result from the teacher.
It should have been the first day of the students, but this time they are about to resume on Wednesday following the “isolated case.”
Staff members of Ysgol y Dderwen Primary in Carmarthen have also tested positive.
The county council said it was being treated “in line with testing, tracking, and protection procedures.”

In Gwynedd, Ysgol Friars in Bangor closed the kitchen for thorough cleaning after the workers tested positive. The school was still open, so the children were asked to bring their lunch.
Dr. Greek Carle, who is in charge of public health in Wales for a pandemic, said parents would be worried about positive cases at school.
“It is advisable to follow the advice of the school or local government and withdraw a child from school only when asked to do so,” he said.
“The social separation measures in place are designed to prevent the spread of disease beyond the “bubbles” established in schools.
“It’s important that children continue to wash their hands regularly throughout the day and home, and parental help for this is essential.”
