Researchers in this study looked at anonymous data from primary care records of approximately 1.2 million adults enrolled in 157 clinics in four clinical referral groups in East London during the peak of the pandemic.
The study focused on suspicious cases because no coronavirus test results were sent to the general practitioner during the study. It also failed to include indicators such as number of households, employment factors, travel and availability of personal protective equipment.
Three of the four districts surveyed had the top five mortality rates in London, but 55% of the population in these regions was ethnic minority.
