Hancock: Being at home this weekend is “not a request” – BBC News

Being home this weekend is an instruction and “not a request,” Secretary of Health Matt Hancock said while updating the country for coronavirus information.

Speaking at H10, Hancock said while warm weather was forecast this weekend, “the disease is still spreading.”

He also said more patients were needed to participate in clinical trials.

Meanwhile, the England nursing chief paid tribute to two nurses who died of the disease.

Areema Nasreen, 36, spent a week with coronavirus, and Aimee O’Rourke, 39, died at the hospital where she worked.

“We were one of them, they belonged to my profession, the NHS family,” said Ruth May. “I worry that there will be more and I want to honor them today and acknowledge their service.”

The latest figures show that 684 other people died from the virus in the UK, with a total of 3,605. 38,168 cases have been confirmed.
