It is no surprise that at this time, businesses and industries were in the grip of chaos. The purse is dangerously close to crashing, the shelves are empty, my family ran out of toilet paper yesterday and the roads are Walking Dead sterile poster. The world is starting to look like a Hollywood blockbuster.
And Hollywood is nervous about it.
After the mandatory closure of all non-essential destinations, such as theaters, many production companies are reworking their film releases. It’s a good thing now, but it could be devastating in the near future. Disney released its latest version, a star animation film called Forward, cinemas and plans to release the film directly to Disney +, their streaming service. It’s great for families cut off from their homes looking for a little normality and something new.
But other films have had worse luck. Vin Diesels’ latest film, Bloodshot, based on a best-selling comic book series, had one of the lowest movie box office openings in years. It is now published on digital rental platforms such as Fandango, but the problem is will it become the new standard?
