The government has called on people to stay home during Easter to stop the spread of the virus, despite the warm and sunny weather in some parts of the UK.

Speaking at Downing Street, NHS England Medical Director Stephen Powis said: “It is a weekend holiday weekend. It is the time of year when we usually celebrate or get together with family and relatives.

“But I’m afraid this year should be an Easter holiday for everyone.”
