Montreal teachers at the COVID-19 variant hotspot will eventually be vaccinated

On Thursday, Montreal’s director of public health said parents would be vaccinated, but affected school and day care staff were not part of the plan. The decision not to include teachers has raised criticism and concern from members of the community.
Later, Dr. Milene Drouin announced on social media Friday afternoon that the pilot project would include staff in direct contact with students and children in day care.
She explained that targeting variants in these regions is the key to curbing pandemics and delaying potential spikes in new cases.
“Everything in Montreal will benefit from better protection against the third wave,” she writes.
Anyone eligible for the vaccine will be notified by the school to make an appointment.
