The UN has warned of “full-scale war” as violence between Israel and Palestine escalates – BBC News

The United Nations is warning of the danger of an “absolute war” as Israeli-Palestinian forces continue their clashes. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Palestinian militants that it was just the beginning, threatening to do so “with blows they have not dreamed of”. The United States is sending a senior diplomat to the Middle East to call on Israelis and Palestinians to end the violence. At least 65 Palestinians, including 15 children and six Israelis, have been killed since the fighting began. In recent days, Palestinian militants have fired rockets at Israel, many targeting Tel Aviv. Israel has carried out a major bombing of Gaza, causing hundreds of airstrikes. Tensions are mounting in Jerusalem, in part because of a long-standing threat to evict Palestinian Palestinians from their homes in occupied Jerusalem, an area claimed by Jewish settlers.
