Julian Sands’ family praise ‘heroic’ search efforts to find missing actor

The family of British actor Julian Sands has disappeared thanked the heroic search teams in California for their efforts to locate him as crews continue to scour the Mount Baldy area.
The 65-year-old, best known for his roles in the films A Room with a View and Arachnophobia, was first reported missing on January 13 after hiking in the San Gabriel Mountains in County of San Bernardino.
On Monday, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office shared a statement from the Sands family on Twitter that named various organizations involved in the effort, including dog and cave teams.

The Sands family said they were deeply touched by the support they received in the days following her disappearance.
The Sheriffs Department added that as operations begin on Day 11, we are reminded of the sheer determination and selflessness of everyone who assisted in this search.
Officials previously said the Jan. 15 cellphone pings led them to believe that Sands, a longtime Los Angeles-area resident, went missing near the Mount Baldy area in the San Gabriel Mountains, northeast of Los Angeles.
However, bad weather made conditions too dangerous for ground crews, so the search was instead conducted by helicopter and drones last week.

On Monday, the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department also revealed they were looking for another missing hiker on Mount Baldy. Jin Chung, 75, did not return from his hike as planned on Sunday, officials said in a report.
