Ross Dress for Less to fill the Staples store at the Courtland Center in Burton
BURTON, MI – Staples at the Courtland Center will be closing next month, but the space is expected to be filled with a new clothing store.
Located at 4190 E. Court St. in Burton, Staples is attached to the Courtland Center mall along with Dunhams Sports and Joann Fabrics.
Staples store manager Eric Sauer said the store will close on June 9.
Amber Abbey, DPW deputy director in charge of zoning, confirmed the news to MLive-The Flint Journal along with information about the future occupier.
We got the bid for the new store moving there before we knew Staples was closing, Abbey said, noting that Ross Dress for Less will be moving into the space.
Founded in 1982, Ross Dress for Less markets itself with extraordinary savings and not have display cases, mannequins, fancy accessories or decorations in its stores to provide more savings to customersaccording to its website.
The Staples store has been located in the Courtland Center since 2005.
We were sad to see Staples go, Abbey said. I do not know the circumstances for which they leave. But hopefully there might be another place in Burton that they would be interested in.
