As a star of CNBC Show Profitmillionaire and “serial entrepreneur” Marcus Lemonis is known for thinking outside the box to help struggling businesses turn a profit.
Today, a retail company he owns has opened a discount store, Track, in one of the most unusual places in the North Loop. It's hidden behind the Colonial Warehouse, down a ramp and next to a parking lot that customers can't use because it's renters only.
But discounts on luxury brands might make the hunt for entry worth it.
“Normally everything is 50% off,” says stylist Ariel Benavidez. “Right now we’re offering a promotion: 70% off your first purchase.”
Runway features women's clothing and home decor, with plans to also include men's clothing.
“We have full-price luxury stores in Chicago. This is going to be our discount store,” Benavidez said, “so this is where all of our discount merchandise will come.”
“Runway chose the North Loop specifically because of its vibrant energy and close-knit community,” said Johnna Griep, chief operating officer.
The track is open four days a week at the moment, Thursday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. And Sundays from noon to 5 p.m..
