PMQs are coming to an end – and now Immigration Minister Robert Jenrick is rising to announce changes to government policy on the treatment of migrants and asylum seekers.
Interestingly, Suella Braverman, the interior secretary, sits behind him but does not deliver the speech herself.
Mr. Jenrick begins by listing the policies already announced by the government, including the Illegal Migration Bill and the Rwanda Deportation Programme.

Mr Jenrick then outlines plans to get asylum seekers and migrants out of hotels – as we reported this morning.
He says ‘accommodation for migrants must meet their basic living needs and nothing more’ to prevent the UK from becoming a ‘magnet’ for people seeking ‘better economic prospects’.
Additional funding will be provided to local authorities supporting migrants, he says.
Mr Jenrick then indicates that three former military sites will be used to detain migrants and asylum seekers in “barracks” and “Portakabins”.
These will be in Lincolnshire, Essex and East Sussex.
Mr Jenrick said the Prime Minister was also going to present plans to house people in Catterick Barracks – the home of Britain’s infantry regiments – which is in his own constituency in North Yorkshire.
It has been reported that the government is also considering accommodating migrants in ships off the coast – and Mr Jenrick confirms that the use of ‘ships’ is under consideration ‘as they are in Scotland and the Netherlands’. Down”.
