Prime Minister Narendra Modi's stay at Mysuru hotel: 80.6 lakh outstanding for over a year; Radisson Blu Plaza could take legal action: report
The hotel where Prime Minister Narendra Modi stayed in April 2023, the Radisson Blu Plaza in Mysuru, is considering legal action because its bills 80.6 lakh have not been paid, The Hindu reported. Prime Minister Modi was in Mysuru to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Project Tiger, organized by the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) and the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEF).
The state Forestry Department was tasked with organizing an event April 9-11, which would cost 3 crore with full funding from the central government. However, following urgent instructions from senior officials of MoEF and NTCA, the total expenditure of the event increased to 6.33 crore, the post added
Despite communications between the National Forestry Department and the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, 3.33 crores are still pending while 3 crore was disbursed by the Centre.
According to the publication, letters between the MoEF and NTCA show that the initial cost of the event was 3 million. However, some additional activities have been added in accordance with NTCA guidelines and schedule needs.
Due to these additions, the event management company handling the event increased its price. The publication adds that this new quote was shared with all officials during a video conference.
Ongoing discussions about unpaid invoices
Discussions continue over unpaid hotel bills for the Prime Minister's stay in Mysuru. The issue was initially raised by the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) to the NTCA in New Delhi on September 29, 2023. The NTCA later responded in February 2024, stating that the state government should cover these expenses .
However, the publication reports that – despite subsequent recalls of the new senior chief curator in March 2024 and the hotel's financial director in May 2024, the The bill of 80.6 lakh remains unsettled.
