Xi Jinping said US-China relationship 'has not changed' after Trump's election victory, during his latest meeting with Biden
(CNN) Chinese President Xi Jinping has told his US counterpart Joe Biden that relations between the two countries will remain unchanged following Donald Trump's election victory.
The United States recently concluded its elections, Xi Jinping told Biden through a translator during the opening speech of their latest meeting. China's goal of establishing stable, healthy and lasting China-US relations remains unchanged.
China is willing to work with the new US government to maintain communication, expand cooperation and manage differences, so as to work for a stable transition of China-US relations. for the benefit of both peoples, said the Chinese leader.
The two met in Peru as part of a summit of Pacific leaders.
When it was Biden's turn to speak, he praised the long partnership with Xi and acknowledged that they had not always seen eye to eye. But he said they were frank and sincere in their communications, which he considers vital. He added that open communication avoids misunderstandings and prevents countries from descending into conflict.
