PTI says imprisoned Imran Khan lost vision in one eye after torture allegations and is at serious risk to his health. The party cites continued CRVO processing, restricted family reunions and court delays.

ISLAMABAD: PTI General Secretary Salman Akram Raja on Wednesday claimed that jailed PTI founder Imran Khan had lost vision in one eye due to alleged torture in jail and was facing serious health risks during his detention.

Speaking to reporters outside the Islamabad High Court, Raja claimed that Khan had spent 1,000 days behind bars and was denied his basic constitutional and legal rights.

The PTI leader’s remarks come days after Khan received a fourth intravitreal eye injection at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences on April 28 as part of the ongoing treatment for central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO), a serious eye disease affecting blood flow in the retina.

According to a medical report submitted to the Supreme Court by Khan’s lawyer and court-appointed amicus curiae Salman Safdar, the condition is usually linked to cardiovascular complications, including hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol and heart disease.

Raja further alleged that meetings between Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, were restricted despite court orders, saying that even close family members, including Khan’s sisters, were not allowed access due to his deteriorating health.

He also accused authorities of blocking the signing of legal documents and selectively allowing meetings with the former prime minister.

The PTI general secretary claimed that Bushra Bibi was facing “false cases”, including references linked to Toshakhana, and criticized delays in hearings on petitions filed in the Supreme Court.

Asserting that all legal avenues had been exhausted, Raja said the party would now take its cause “to the people of Pakistan”.

Referring to the broader political climate, he said the country was facing economic decline and deteriorating security conditions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while alleging that the justice system had been weakened by punitive transfers of judges.
