After retiring from the presidency, Joko Widodo received an offer to star in a film about Dayak culture and was invited to a traditional event next August.
Grand Chief of the Tariu Borneo Bangkule Rajakng Red Army (TBBR) Panglima Jilah met with the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi). Panglima Jilah said he planned to invite Jokowi to star in the film Dayak as the main character.
“We also brought Mr. Jokowi to act in a Dayak film. His response was positive, it was all about culture,” he said during a meeting at Jokowi’s residence in Sumber, Banjarsari, Solo, Wednesday (20/5/2026).

Asked what story he wanted to tell, Panglima Jilah said his party was working on a colossal film.
“The film tells the stories of the Dayak in the past, how the Dayak collaborated with Java and Majapahit,” he said.
He also said that Jokowi would be given the status of the film’s lead actor.
“Eh, basically his role is the main role, yes. Later we will do it as best as possible,” he explained.
Furthermore, during her visit to Solo, Panglima Jilah plans to invite Jokowi to attend a traditional cultural event next August.
“We kept in touch with him regarding cultural customs. We invited him to come to the cultural customs event in the eighth month,” said a member of the traditional Kanayatn tribe.
On the other hand, he said it was important to maintain friendship. Additionally, discussing nationality with Jokowi.
